YERMO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A car caught fire on northbound Interstate 15 Freeway on Friday, creating a black smoke cloud you could see for miles in the Mojave desert.

California Highway Patrol and Barstow Fire Department were getting calls of a silver Honda Accord 4 door sedan on fire just about a mile or two from Yemro Road exit at 11:57am on July 3, 2020.

California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the slow lanes while they worked on getting the vehicle fire put out.

Traffic was delayed for over an hour in this area, due to the heavy holiday traffic and for the car fire.

The driver did escape the vehicle before it became fully engulfed.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

The cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time.
