YERMO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Two semi drivers are injured following a head-on collision on northbound Interstate 15.

California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department received calls for a red big rig semi that went through the center divider then went across all lanes landed on the northbound Interstate 15. It then crashed head-on with a blue big rig semi.

The crash happened on northbound Interstate 15 about two miles after Minneola Road exit. The accident happened at 4:04pm Saturday on October 17, 2020.

When CHP and firefighters responded to the scene, there was one person inside each semi, both were trapped inside. Firefighters requested one medical helicopter to transport the driver of the red semi.

The driver of the blue semi was coherent per the CHP traffic log.

The driver of the red semi had lacerations and bleeding per the CHP traffic log.

The medvac helicopter landed on the interstate. Mercy Air #66 airlifted the driver of the red semi to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. 

For unknown reasons the driver of the red semi lost control from the southbound direction and went head-on with the blue semi driving in the northbound direction.

The crash damaged a major portion of the center divider guardrail and the fence next to the freeway.

SIG Alert was issues for the two lanes due to debris and removal of the two semis. Cleanup and removal will be in place for 3 to 5+ hours as of 6pm.

11:45pm they just open the fast lane.

At 3:30am Sunday all lanes were back open.

This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office.

CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
