Firefighters Battle Wind-Driven Brush Fire Threatening Structures In Oak Hills

OAK HILLS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A fast moving brush fire in Oak Hills near the 15 freeway just after the Ranchero Road exit.

San Bernardino County firefighters were at the scene of a vegetation fire Wednesday afternoon at about 1:12pm. They were off of Farmington Street/Verbena Road and Caliente Road, in the Oak Hills, a community of Hesperia. As of 1:45pm they estimate the fire has burned approximately 30 acres with 30 mph gusts reported. Aerial support was called with at least four air tankers and two helicopters.

At 2:15pm the acres jumped to 100 with gusty winds pushing the flames toward the north.

At 3:30pm the fire has burned 150 acres with a few hot spots remaining, still 0% contained. No homes damaged as of 3pm.

Update at 5pm the fire remains 150 acres with 10% containment. Forward rate of spread has been stopped, aircraft have been released. No structures damaged, no injuries reported.

Update at 6:15pm with updated mapping the acres are 250 with 30% contained.

Update Thursday morning at 10:30am the fire is still at 250 acres and is 90% contained.

The name of the brush fire is called the Farm Fire.

Interstate 15 was not affected by the fire, but heavy traffic due to looky-loos.
