Vehicle Fire Causes Small Brush Fire In The Cajon Pass Sunday

CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A vehicle fire caused a small brush fire in the Cajon Pass Sunday afternoon, according to the San Bernardino US Department of Forest Service

California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Fire Department, CAL Fire, and US Department of Forest Service firefighters were getting calls of a vehicle on fire on the right shoulder about a mile after Highway 138 exit. The vehicle fire was reported about 12:20pm Sunday, September 19, 2021 with flames coming from the engine compartment.

California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the #4 and the slow lane, while they worked on getting the vehicle fire put out. The vehicle was reported to be a white Ford Expedition. Everybody did escape the vehicle before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time. The fire did spread into the vegetation but was knocked down at ¼ acre US Department of Forest Service firefighters said.
