18 Year Old Man Charged With Impersonating A Police Officer In Victorville

VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The Victorville Police Department has arrested an 18-year-old man, resident of Toledo, Ohio for impersonating a police officer.

On Wednesday December 15, 2021, deputies of the Victorville Gang Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on a white Ford Crown Victoria in the area of La Mesa Road and Petaluma Road. The vehicle appeared to be an unmarked sheriff’s patrol vehicle which contained several law enforcement specific characteristics including a black push bar, dash-cam, interior mounted emergency lights, sirens, antennas, “police interceptor”, badges, rims, and police specific identifying numbers on the trunk. A search of the vehicle was conducted and ballistic armor, an imitation firearm, pepper spray, LAPD patches and other miscellaneous police gear were located inside.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Rudy Reed, an 18-year-old resident of Toledo, Ohio, who wore a “Toledo Police” hooded sweatshirt during the time of the initial contact.

During a service of a search warrant of Reed’s residence, they found LAPD uniforms, LAPD badge and patches, a hat from the California Highway Patrol, additional radio and lighting equipment, multiple imitation firearms, police duty belts equipped with radios, imitation tasers, handcuffs and gun holsters were located.

Prior to the traffic stop, deputies observed Reed responding to traffic collisions and illegally positioning his Crown Victoria in the roadway in a manner law enforcement does to block traffic during collision investigations.

Reed was subsequently arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center for PC538D(a), False Impersonation of a Peace Officer.

Reed’s booking photo is being released as investigators believe there may be victims of the impersonation.
