DUI Driver Strikes And Kills Two, That Were Stopped On The 10 Freeway Shoulder Saturday Morning

COLTON, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A man and a woman killed in a crash caused by a suspected DUI driver on the Interstate 10 in Colton early Saturday morning according to what California Highway Patrol said.

California Highway Patrol and Colton Fire Department were called to the scene at about 2am Saturday, February 5, 2022. The crash was located on westbound Interstate 10 before the Pepper Avenue exit. It was reported to be a two vehicle crash. The vehicles involved were a black Nissan Sentra with heavy rear-end damage that was upside down in the ditch and a sliver Toyota Camry with heavy front-end damage.

CHP said, the Toyota Camry was traveling west on the freeway when it moved to the right and collided with a Nissan Sentra that was stopped on the shoulder of the freeway. The collision caused the Nissan to overturn and go upside down into the ditch, according to the CHP.

CHP arrived at the scene and was able to pull one male victim out of the Nissan. Another female victim was also located in the Nissan. They were both pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. The suspect taken to a local hospital with unknown injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening then was arrested.

The incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office. CHP said additional information will be updated as it becomes available. Additional details were limited at this time.
