NEEDLES, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A single-vehicle roll-over crash late Friday night on Interstate 40 left one person dead.
The crash happened on eastbound I-40 after Water Road just before midnight at about 11:52pm Friday February 4, 2022.
According to California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department a Ford Mustang was found overturned in the center divider in a wash bed. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was confirmed deceased on scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed the driver was driving eastbound on Interstate 40 just after Water Road and reportedly going over 100 mph. For reasons still under investigation the car lost control, leaving the roadway into the center divider and striking the dirt wash. The vehicle overturned and came to rest upside down about 70 feet down the wash.
No further details have been provided at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Needles Office. Please check for updates on this incident.
