RUNNING SPRINGS, CA. (Pain In The Pass)>> Firefighters are battling a brush fire in the San Bernardino National Forest Friday afternoon. High desert residences may see and smell smoke this afternoon/evening.
The Manzanita Fire was first spotted around 3:20pm Friday September 23, 2022 burning off of Highway 330 near the Middle Passing Lane.
The fire is about 27 acres with no containment as of 8pm with new mapping.
The winds were gusting at about 5 to 15 mph in heavy brush fanning the flames. Multiple helicopters and airtankers were called to the scene to do drops to help stop the fire.
No Structures were threatened during the fire fight. The fire remain under investigation by fire investigators.
Saturday morning update, Firefighters held the fire overnight to 27 acres with no growth observed. Working through the night they now have 15% containment.
