Semi Fire on Interstate 15 causes Brush Fire in the Cajon Pass Wednesday afternoon

CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Firefighters were battling a brush fire off the Interstate 15 freeway at the top of the Cajon Pass on Wednesday afternoon. (Photo above is credit by Liz Marquez.)

The semi fire happened on Wednesday about 12:56pm July 12, 2023. California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the #4 lane and the slow lane while they worked on getting the semi fire and the nearby brush put out.

As the flames spread to the shoulder and ignited nearby brush. The flame ran up hill and burned about two acres. Crews got the fire contained just before 2pm.

Everybody did escape the semi before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene. The official cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time. The semi was hauling about 15,000 pounds of unknown product in the trailer and was intact with no fire damage.
