PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A man charged of driving under the influence of alcohol after he ran a red light at high speeds, T-bone a vehicle on Phelan Road Friday morning. (Photo above is credit by Flower Reyes.)
The crash happened just before 11am November 29, 2024 when a red Toyota Corolla sedan allegedly ran a red light at Phelan and Baldy Mesa Roads. According to the California Highway Patrol, the speeding Toyota T-bone a red Honda Accord with only the driver inside.
According to witnesses, the Toyota was traveling eastbound on Phelan Rd at high speeds. He ran through the red light, and collided with the Honda that was attempting to make a left-hand turn onto Baldy Mesa Rd.
With the contact, it left the Honda Accord sedan cut in half. Only one person, the driver was inside the Honda. She was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with only minor injuries.
The male driver of the Toyota was also injured and transported by ambulance to a Desert Valley Hospital with minor injuries.
A CHP Officer followed the ambulance to the hospital to conduct a blood draw on the driver, who was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol.
The driver was arrested later that afternoon for DUI, driving without a license and more charges are pending at this time.
