CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A weak part of a Atmospheric River will move across Southern California on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning. This weather event will bring mostly light to moderate rain showers on Wednesday into the night, the heaviest rain showers will be on Thursday into the night. Scattered rain showers for Friday morning with the snow level will drop low.
Flash floods and dangerous debris flows are possible in the burn scars areas on Thursday with a passing thunderstorm cell.
Southern California Weather Force has issued a Winter Storm Warning and a Thunderstorm Watch that will probably turn into a Warning across the forecast zones acquired from Wednesday evening into Thursday.
The heaviest downpours can have the potential to bring a quick 1+ inch of rain from a thunderstorm or a strong weather cell. The risk for localized flash flooding is moderate, but cannot be ruled out because the ground is dry and in the burn scars areas from brush fires from earlier in the year or from last year.
The Southern California Weather Force has posted the timing of the storm for the Inland Empire, Cajon Pass, mountains area, and the high desert.
Timing for Inland Empire/Cajon Pass. Rain showers could start around 11am-2pm Wednesday morning off and on until Friday morning with heavy fog/rain in the Cajon Pass. The Cajon Pass/foothills could get about one inches to 2+ inches of rain total. The Inland Empire cities could get about an ½ inch to a inch of rain total, each city could vary on the total. There no chance of snow in the Cajon Pass on Wednesday but on Thursday and Friday morning the snow level will drop to 4,000 feet with a dusting of snow around 3,000 feet. Thunderstorms are in the forecast for Thursday.

Timing of the storm for the High Desert. The rain showers could start around 1pm-4pm Wednesday afternoon with scattered off and on rain showers until Thursday morning then rain shower and could be heavy at time. The High Desert cities could get about a trace to ½ inches of rain total. Each city could vary of rain total. Barstow will be little to a trace. Strong gusty winds are in the forecast until Friday with 60 mph wind gust.
Timing of the storm for the Wrightwood Mountains. Rain/snow showers could start around 11am-3pm Wednesday morning with rain shower. Thursday and Friday morning will be heavy rain showers will turn into snow showers. Snow level will be high around 8,000 ft. then will drop to 4,000ft on Thursday night into Friday morning. Wrightwood could get about 1 to 2+ inches of rain total. Wrightwood could get about 2 to 6+ inches of snow total. Mt High could get 8 to 12+ inches of snow. Strong gusty winds are in the forecast until Friday with 60 mph wind gust. Flash floods and dangerous debris flows are possible in Sheep Creek on Thursday.
If you travel through the Cajon Pass expect traffic due to the weather condition that can change quickly. Remember to SLOW DOWN in the rain or in foggy conditions.
