The crash occurred around 11:39am on March 9, 2025. The location of the crash was on westbound I-40 about 8 miles after the Kelbaker Road exit according to the California Highway Patrol.
A blue semi-truck parked on the right shoulder of I-40 was struck from the rear by a red semi-truck, causing the red semi to have major passenger side damage to the cab.
Both truck drivers were not hurt in the collision.
According to the CHP, the red semi driver failed to negotiate his lane, may have fell asleep or to move over a lane, instead drove into the parked truck trailer.
It was reported both semis were hauling full loads of frozen foods.
A Sig-Alert was issued for the slow lane, but was quickly pickup after 3pm.
We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Barstow Office.
