CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Part of an Atmospheric River will move across Southern California on Wednesday night into Thursday. Yes it been raining on and off all day on Wednesday, but the bulk storm is not here yet This weather event will bring mostly moderate to heavy rain showers on Wednesday into the night, with the heaviest rain showers will be Thursday morning. Scattered rain showers for Thursday night into Friday morning/afternoon.
Flash flooding and dangerous debris flows are possible in the burn scars area.
Southern California Weather Force has issued a Flood Watch what will probably turn into a Warning across the forecast zones. Mountain areas has issed a Winter Storm Warning starts Thursday morning at 12am
The heaviest downpours or a thunderstorm can have the potential to bring a quick 1+ inch of rain from a strong weather cell. The risk for localized flash flooding is moderate to high, but cannot be ruled out because the ground is wet and the burn land in the burn scars areas from brush fires from earlier in the year or from last year.
Flash floods and dangerous debris flows are possible in Sheep Creek in Wrighwood and Phelan with this storm.
The Southern California Weather Force has posted the timing of the storm for the Inland Empire, Cajon Pass, mountains area, and the high desert below.
Timing for Inland Empire/Cajon Pass. Rain showers could start around 9pm-1am Wednesday late night into Thursday morning. The heavest rain fall will start in the morninglast into the afternoon. Off and on until Friday morning. Heavy fog/rain in the Cajon Pass. The Cajon Pass/foothills could get about 3+ inches of rain total. The Inland Empire cities could get about an inch to 2+ inches of rain total, each city could vary. There is a chance of snow in the Cajon Pass with this storm but that starts Thursday afternoon into the night and Friday morning. A thunderstorm can product higher rain total. Gusty winds will be blowing with gusts 30 to 40 mph.

Timing of the storm for the High Desert. The rain showers could start around 10pm-12am Wednesday late night into Thursday morning with rain showers that could be heavy at time. The High Desert cities could get about an inch to 2 inches of rain total, each city could vary. Barstow will be less than a inch. Strong gusty winds with 60 mph gust are in the forecast until Friday. Dusty of snow is not out of the question for the desert.
Timing of the storm for the Wrightwood Mountains. Rain/snow showers could start around 10pm-12am Wednesday late night into Thursday morning with heavy rain/snow showers. Thursday morning will be heavy rain/snow showers. Snow level will start high around 6,000 ft. then drop to around 4,000 feet Thursday afternoon/evening into Friday morning. Wrightwood could get about 2 to 3+ inches of rain total. Wrightwood could get about 6 to 12+ inches of snow total. Mt High could get 18 to 24+ inches of snow. Flash floods and dangerous debris flows are possible in Sheep Creek wash in Wrighwood and in Phelan. Strong gusty winds with 60 mph gust are in the forecast until Friday.
If you travel through the Cajon Pass expect heavy traffic due to the weather condition that can change quickly. One minute heavy rain then the next minute heavy snow. Remember to SLOW DOWN in the rain or in foggy conditions.
