Fundraiser for the Family of 4 Killed in Rollover Crash on I-40 near Newberry Springs

VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office has released the names of the four victims who were killed in a solo-vehicle rollover crash on westbound Interstate 40 last Sunday morning.

35-year-old Bryce Martinez, resident of Yermo, was driving a 2012 brown Dodge Ram with his three children. 16-year-old male Cole Martinez, 15-year-old male Trent Martinez, and 10-year-old female Sailor Martinez were all of Barstow.

The crash was reported around 7:45am on Sunday May 4, 2025. California Highway Patrol said that for reasons still under investigation, The Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling on westbound I-40 about three miles after the Hector Road exit. The driver veered from the traffic lanes onto the dirt shoulder and rolled over several times.

All four people inside in pickup truck were pronounced deceased at the scene.

In an emotional Facebook post, Tamara Ortiz shared the difficulty of processing the loss of her “beautiful babies,” thanking the community for the outpouring of prayers, calls, texts, and visits.

On Saturday May 17, at Faafo Cornhole Headquaters in Redlands we will host a Memorial Fundraiser to raise money for the Martinez family for the funeral costs.

This incident is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Barstow Office. The CHP asked anyone with information on the crash to call Officer Herrera at 760-255-5900.
