CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A driver was transported to a local hospital Wednesday evening after apparently rear-ending a pickup truck then catches fire.
California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino Fire Department received calls of a crash. It was reported on southbound Interstate 15 just after the Cleghorn Road exit. The crash happened at about 6 :36pm Wednesday on March 31, 2021.
The vehicles involved in the crash were reported as a white Dodge Ram pickup work truck and a black Mercedes-Benz. On arrival, firefighters located the Mercedes with heavy front damage in the center median on fire.
The driver of the Mercedes was able to get out of the vehicle before the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames. The driver was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
The vehicle fire sparked nearby brush to catch fire. About 50 feet of brush around the vehicle was burned.
This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office.
