CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A total of three vehicle fires on Interstate 15 from Sierra Avenue to Oak Hills Road Saturday afternoon and evening. All of these vehicle fires caused major traffic tie ups.
The first car fire was reported on northbound 15 freeway just after Sierra Ave about 2:40pm. A black Toyota Camry Solara Convertible on the right shoulder. California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the two right lanes while they worked on getting the vehicle fire put out. Everybody did escape the vehicle before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene.
The second vehicle fire was reported on northbound 15 in the Cajon Pass before Cleghorn Road about 3:15pm. A black Jeep Cherokee on the right shoulder. California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the two right lanes while they worked on getting the vehicle fire put out. Everybody did escape the vehicle before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene.
The third car fire was reported again on northbound 15 at the top of the Cajon Pass before Oak Hills Road at about 6:49pm Saturday evening. The report was of a sliver Dodge Magnum on the right shoulder. California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the slow lanes while they worked on getting the vehicle fire put out. Everybody did escape the vehicle before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene.
All the causes of the vehicle fires is unknown at this time.
