5 People Airlifted After Major Crash On Southbound I-15

APPLE VALLEY, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A total of five people were airlifted to local trauma centers after a multiple vehicle crash on Southbound Interstate 15 Wednesday afternoon.

The crash was reported about 3:48pm Wednesday June 23, 2021. Located about a mile from Dale Evans Parkway. California Highway Patrol, Apple Valley Police, Apple Valley Fire Department and five AMR ambulances responded to the accident. They located a black Land Rover Discovery SUV upside down off to the right side of the freeway and a red Dodge Journey SUV with major rear-end damage off in the slow lane. Multiple people were reported to be trapped inside both vehicles. Good Samaritans were trying to extricate some victims prior to firefighters arriving at the scene. Firefighters requested a total of five medical helicopters to transport to local trauma centers.

For reasons still under investigation, a witness stated the red SUV was on the right shoulder of the freeway smoking/overheated and the black Land Rover crash in the back of them at or about full speed. The incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office. CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available. Mercy Air 2 and Mercy Air 24 transported two crash victims to Loma Linda University Medical Center. Mercy Air 3, Mercy Air 66, and San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department Air Rescue 7 transported three crash victims to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center, all in unknown conditions.
