Expect delays on Thursday and Friday evening for northbound Interstate 15. Southbound I-15 traffic on Sunday and Monday in the Cajon Pass, Devore, Hesperia, Victorville, Barstow, Baker, Laughlin and Stateline/Vegas areas. Try and travel during off peak hours (early morning or late at night). The worst time to travel is from 4pm to 6pm. There is no roadwork lane closure during the 4th of July weekend. The Pain in the Pass Facebook Group predicts drivers could face delays as much as four times as a normal commute, with Friday, July 2nd the worst day on the roads. The 4th falls on a Sunday so this makes Monday July 5th a 3 day weekend for most.
AAA said, they are expected a record number people will travel this 4th of July weekend compared to last year even with the new gas tax and Covid 19.

If you plan to hit the road this 4th of July Weekend below are some helpful tips:
• Travel in early morning hours if possible – try to leave before noon Thursday or Friday the Sunday and Monday.
• BRING WATER! Also bring snacks and necessary medication.
• Have a full tank of gas before you go.
• Make sure your car is in good running condition. Check all the fluids, tires and tire pressure.
• Bring a charged cell phone (with a car charger).
• Use the restroom before you get on the road – you don’t know where you may get stopped for long periods of time.
• Bring your patience, Please. Don’t need road rage this Holiday weekend.
• Know before you go and check the Pain In The Pass Facebook Group for up to date traffic conditions on the 15 freeway. Plan ahead and add extra time before you travel. Have a positive attitude — relax and enjoy the ride!
