Driver Strikes Disabled Vehicle Then Catches Fire In The Cajon Pass

CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A vehicle slammed into the back of a car on Interstate 15 in Cajon Pass in the early morning.

California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the incident of a two vehicle crash. The vehicles involved in the crash were a white Hyundai Elantra that was disabled in the #2 lane with major rear-end damage. The second vehicle was an unknown make or model car with major front-end damage, that was sent off the freeway up the embankment in the center divider on fire. The crash was reported about 12:22am, Saturday July 3, 2021. The incident was reported on northbound Interstate 15 about 2 miles before the Oak Hill Road exit.

For reasons still under investigation, the Elanta was sitting in traffic lanes with no light on. Seconds later the unknown vehicle struck the back of the car. According to the CHP traffic log everybody was able to get out of their vehicles. No major injuries were reported in the crash, just some bumps and bruises. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol San Bernardino Inland Office. CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
