NIPTON, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A single-vehicle rollover near Stateline killed a passenger Thursday morning on southbound Interstate 15.
At about 6:02am Thursday morning on July 22, 2021, California Highway Patrol San Bernardino County and Clark County Fire Departments responded to a traffic crash on Interstate 15 near Yates Well Road exit. From reports the driver of the black Ford Explorer lost control and went off the Interstate into the right shoulder and rolled over multiple times about 100 yards off the Interstate. The passenger was ejected from the vehicle. Despite life-saving rescue measures, firefighter officials said the passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted by Mercy Air helicopter #7 to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
CHP investigators believe that speed and alcohol/drugs played a factor in this fatal crash. The passenger was not identified as of Sunday.
Update The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Coroner Officer identified the passenger as Jacqueline Jacobs a 31-year-old resident of La Habra, California.
