VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A early morning high-speed pursuit that started in the city of Victorville ended in Fontana with a crash and the suspected arrested.
The pursuit started at about 2:30 am, on Monday July 26th in the area of Bear Valley and Hesperia Roads. A Deputy saw the driver of a stolen 2001 Ford F-250 pickup truck run a red light at the intersection, officials said. The suspect, was later identified as a 32 year old Joshua Olsen, a resident of San Bernardino.
The pursuit was started after the deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver sped away. The male suspect of the stolen truck, entered the southbound lanes of the 15 Freeway from Bear Valley Rd. He fled without regard of life, by weaving in and out of traffic with speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour. He exited southbound Interstate 15 at Duncan Canyon Rd. in Fontana. When he exited the freeway, he made a u turn and drove towards the pursuing deputies and attempted to crash into them. He did hit one of the patrol cars, causing some minor damage. He exited the pickup truck and ran from deputies. He was quickly located hiding in a tunnel and and was taken into custody.
Olsen was arrested and booked into West Valley Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon on a peace officer, possession of a stolen vehicle, and evading an officer with disregard for safety. He is being held without bail and has a court arraignment on July 28th.
