CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Firefighter extinguished a car fire on northbound Interstate 15 Thursday afternoon.
California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Fire Department, US Department of Forest Service firefighters were getting calls of a vehicle on fire on the right shoulder about a mile after Highway 138 exit. The car fire was reported about 2:37pm Thursday August 12, 2021 with flames coming from the engine compartment.
California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the slow lane, while they worked on getting the vehicle fire put out. The vehicle was reported to be a black Honda Civic sedan. Everybody did escape the vehicle before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time. The fire did spread into the vegetation but was caught despite high winds and heat US Department of Forest Service firefighters said.
