CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A car crashed into one vehicle, then struck multiple vehicles after her brakes failed in the Cajon Pass Wednesday afternoon.
California Highway Patrol and firefighters from San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic crash. It was reported at about 4pm, Wednesday November 24, 2021. The crash was located on the southbound Interstate 15 just before the truck escape ramp.
A witness stated the female driver of the gray Toyota Prius rear-ended a vehicle causing her brakes to fail. After rear ending that vehicle she crashed into at least 5 more vehicles. This then sent her over the guardrail and rolling over off the right shoulder of the freeway and landing upside down. The driver stated, “I was trying to make it to the runway ramp”. She was able to crawl out with help from good Samaritans. Her injuries were reported to be only minor. No other injuries were reported at the scene.
This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol San Bernardino Office. CHP said additional information will be updated as it becomes available. Additional details were limited at this time.
