CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Rain-slicked roadways following up to four+ inches of rain on Tuesday morning/afternoon resulted in multiple crashes and spin-outs that snarled traffic across Interstate 15. A couple of notable wrecks occurred on Interstate 15.
One crash was reported about 6:33am Tuesday morning December 14, 2021. Multiple vehicles crashed together blocking two lanes for about 30 minutes just after the Sierra Avenue exit. At 10:45am just before Glen Helen Pkwy a multiple vehicle crash in the center divider. A car spun-out of control northbound I-15 before Cleghorn Rd exit at 11:34am. At about 12:37pm on northbound I-15 after Joshua St. a vehicle rolled over that was being towed by another vehicle. The CHP stated the car fell off from a moving trailer.
The big part is the fact that we haven’t had heavy rain in months. The biggest concern is that when we get these rain storms, drivers are still driving like it’s dry. When we have a huge change in the weather, drivers need to slow down and drive smart.
Slow down and drive according to the weather conditions. This is especially important in the Cajon Pass and on Interstate 15 where drivers can find themselves losing control very quickly if they don’t slow down.
The other problem is the oil that builds up on roads surface. Oil has sat on the road since the last big rain storm.
Remember turn on your headlights in the rain. It’s the law to have your headlights on when the windshield wipers are in use.
