APPLE VALLEY, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Illegal street racing on northbound Interstate 15 between Stoddard Wells Road/Bell Mountain and Dale Evans Parkway late Thursday afternoon. Ending in a multiple vehicle crash that caused one of the engine blocks from one of the vehicles to separated during the impact.
The crash was reported at about 4:51pm, Thursday December 16, 2021, on northbound I-15 before Dale Evans Pkwy. California Highway Patrol and firefighters from Apple Valley Fire Department responded to the traffic crash. Reports from the CHP traffic log stated that two vehicles were racing at high speeds prior to the collision. The two vehicles involved were reported by a witness, a sliver Ford Mustang and a Toyota Camry that were racing.
The two vehicles racing crashed into two others vehicles. Possibly a white Honda Accord or a Toyota Camry sedan crashed into an older sliver Toyota Camry. The collision caused the engine block of the vehicle to separate. The other vehicle involved in the crash was a white big rig with unknown damage. The impact sent the Mustang about 200 feet off the right shoulder of the freeway though a fence. No injures were reported. Traffic was backedup for miles due to the call for multiple tow trucks needed, and for the debris scattered across all the lanes.
This crash is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Victorville Office. CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available. Additional details were limited at this time. Please check back for updates on this incident.
