I-215 Reopened Following Collision That Killed Pedestrian

SAN BERNARDINO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A big rig driver hit and killed a pedestrian Wednesday morning on northbound Interstate 215.

The incident happened around 4:09am Wednesday January 12, 2022, on northbound Interstate 215 near the 5th Street exit. According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic log, the pedestrian was walking on the right shoulder. Minutes later a passing blue and white big rig hit the pedestrian. The motorist involved in the incident remained on the scene and was cooperating with investigators.

When CHP arrived on the scene, they found a pedestrian that was hit and unresponsive in the traffic lanes. Shortly after they pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene. CHP temporarily shut down all northbound lanes at 4:30am and reopened all lanes by 8am.

This incident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol San Bernardino Inland Office. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call (909) 383-4247.
