OAK HILLS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >>A small brush fire burning next to northbound Interstate 15 caused traffic delays in the area on Wednesday evening, authorities said.
The fire may have started by a white Ford F-250 that was sitting smoking from the tailpipe on the right shoulder about a ½ mile where the fire started. Firefighters were battling the flames in medium to heavy brush between the Oak Hill Road and Ranchero Rd. exits on the right shoulder of the freeway.
The fire was reported at about 6:46pm Wednesday, July 13, 2022. CAL Fire, and San Bernardino County Fire Department firefighters were quickly on scene. By 7:15pm the fire forward spread was stopped. At one point California Highway Patrol temporary closed the #3 and the #4 lane due to blowing smoke over the freeway and for firefighters.
Traffic was backup for more than two miles at one point. The fire burned about a 20 by 100 feet spot between the freeway and Mariposa Road in Oak Hills before firefighters contained the blaze Wednesday night. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
