Wrecks, Roadwork With Lane Closure Creates Traffic Nightmare On Southbound I-15 And Forces Drivers To Use Side Roads Tuesday Morning

CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Roadwork and three separate crashes, with one being a multiple vehicle crash caused a slowdown all on southbound Interstate 15 for miles Tuesday morning and earlier afternoon.

As a result of crash late Monday night lasting into Tuesday morning. This started the traffic nightmare that lasted all day.

The first crash was reported on southbound Interstate 15 before the truck escape ramp. This happened at about 11:21pm Monday night, November 21, 2022. California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic collision involving a gray Toyota Camry sedan with major rear-end damage and a Robertson Ready Mix semi pulling a set of the pneumatic dry bulk tanker trailers and a semi pulling a trailer. Two lanes were blocked for about 5 hours due to the cleanup and removal of the Robertson semi. Traffic was backedup all the way to Main Street at one point.

The second crash was southbound I-15 before Cleghorn Rd at about 9am. A black sedan crashed into the side of a big rig tractor-trailer.

Then roadwork started at about 10am on southbound I-15 at Highway 138 for bridge inspection. Two lanes were blocked for about an hour. Then the slow lane and on-ramp were closed after. Traffic was backed up all the way to Ranchero Road.

At 1pm a six vehicle pileup happened in the bypass lane just before Ranchero Rd. This caused more traffic to backup all the way to Bear Valley Rd.

With all the crashes, no injuries were reported and the cause of the accident is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Office.
