CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> California Highway Patrol has taken a driver into custody on the Cajon Pass after he crashed into several vehicles and narrowly missed several other Wednesday afternoon.
The first incident happened at about 3:38 pm on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, on northbound Interstate 15 around Cleghorn Road and the truck scales. The suspect was described as a white male adult wearing a salmon/pink shirt driving a white Ford Transit van and was driving recklessly before the collisions.
With help from a CHP helicopter and ground officers aimed their rifles at the suspects Ford van while it was disabled north of the Highway 138 exit on the freeway. Traffic was brought to a halt as police responded to the incident and took the driver into custody. The suspect hasn’t been identified at this time.
He was found nearby and arrested on felony hit and run on multiple vehicles. Also, he could be charged with driving recklessly. It’s unclear whether he was driving his own vehicle.
There were no reports of injuries.
Update the van was stolen out of Palm Springs.
