California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Fire Department, and San Bernardino National Forest firefighters were getting calls of a grey Ford Escape on fire. The vehicle was located on northbound Interstate 15 about one mile from Highway 138 exit in the right shoulder. The vehicle fire happened on Monday about 6:21am August 28, 2023. California Highway Patrol and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the slow lane while they worked on getting the vehicle fire put out.

Traffic backup quickly on the southbound side and firefighters had the fire out in about a half of a hour. Flame did reach the nearby brush and they had it out quickly. Everybody did escape the vehicle before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time.
