Friday September 22, 2023, CHP Barstow Communications Center received notification to be on the lookout for a stolen vehicle involved in a shooting. Barstow Police Department was investigating the shooting and sent the request to local allied agencies.
On Saturday morning, Barstow Communications Center received reports of an individual attempting to flag down traffic close to a vehicle matching the description on National Trail Highway Route 66 near the town of Amboy. Officers located the abandoned stolen vehicle and initiated an area check for the suspect.
CHP Inland Division Air Operations Airplane Air-81 responded from the Apple Valley Airport. At approximately 6:30am, Air-81 located a pedestrian matching the shooting suspect description. The suspect was detained by officers from the CHP Barstow Area Office.
Barstow Police Department is investigating the shooting incident.
