Rain causes Two Crashes in the Cajon Pass late Saturday afternoon

The first crash began coming in around 4:15pm, snarling traffic on northbound Interstate 15 just after the Kenwood Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The first vehicle was reported to be a blue Dodge Charger had spun around on the slippery roadway, crashed into the center median wall blocking the fast lane. Then about 5 minutes after the Dodge spun-out, four vehicle collided in the same area blocking the two right lanes. The four vehicles involved in this crash were a blue Hyundai Sonata sedan, a white Mercedes-Benz SUV and two semis.

It was reported the driver of the Hyundai made contact with a semi causing both to spin out. The Hyundai had front and rear damage to there vehicle. Both semis and the Mercedes had only minor damage.

Debris from both collisions were strewn along the freeway. All injuries appeared to be minor.

It’s important for motorists to drive slow, stay patient and create space between other drivers in wet weather.
