64-year-old Joyce Lynn McShan resident of Colton, California was involved in a crash that occurred just before 6pm on Thursday August 31, 2023, on the southbound Interstate 15 near L Street exit, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Mazda CX5 was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes for still unknown reasons.
Then, a semi tractor trailer swerved to avoid collision with the wrong-way vehicle and struck the guardrail. Also, the cab of the semi erupted into flames after the crash. The driver of the Mazda still hit the semi.
Officials said both people in the Mazda were trapped in the vehicle due to major front-end damage and both sustained fatal injuries at the scene. Authorities confirmed that the driver of the Mazda, Joyce Lynn McShan, and her passenger, died in the crash. The passenger ID wasn’t released by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.
CHP officers said that the driver and a passenger of the semi were not hurt in the incident.
Due to limited information, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
