CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> One person was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass Monday afternoon. (Photo above is credit by Paul-Mary Mencos)
California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the traffic collision involving a white Dodge Durango with major damage, and a blue unknown make or model sedan with minor damage stated on the CHP traffic log. The crash took place about 12:12pm on Monday October 9, 2023, on northbound Interstate 15 about a mile from the Cleghorn Road exit.
The driver of a blue sedan was allegedly attempting to pass the Dodge, when they clipped the Dodge front bumper area. This caused the Dodge to swerve and to lose control, then hit the center divider hard. The impact caused the Dodge to became disabled in the middle lane.
The female driver of the Dodge was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Traffic was backup quickly as they remove the Dodge out of lanes.
CHP are still working to determine exactly how the crash happened. We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Inland Office.
