Solo Vehicle Crash on Northbound I-15 in the Cajon Pass may have Started by a Driver Falling Asleep

CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A solo vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass may have been cause a driver to be overly tired or fell asleep behind the wheel early Wednesday morning. (Photo above is credit by Dee J Benny E.)

California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino Fire Department received calls of a crash. the collision was reported on northbound Interstate 15 between Highway 138 and the Oak Hill Road exits. The crash happened at about 2:53am Wednesday December 20, 2023.

From reports from the CHP traffic log, the vehicle involved in the crash was a silver Toyota Rav4 SUV with heavy damage towards the rear of the vehicle after hitting the center divider guardrail, then became disabled in the fast lane.

No injuries were reported at the scene.

It was reported by a witness stated one of the drivers fell asleep. Traffic was backup for about a mile due to the cleanup and heavy fog in the area of the crash.
