17-year-old Rancho Cucamonga Resident Killed in a Two-Vehicle Crash on I-15

ONTARIO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office has identified the man killed in a crash on Interstate 15 two weeks ago. (Photo above is credit by Key News Network)

California Highway Patrol, Riverside County Fire Department and firefighters from Ontario City Fire Department were called to the crash scene on Saturday about 2:53am March 9, 2024. The crash scene was on southbound I-15 between the Jurupa Avenue exit and the 60 Freeway.

The three vehicles involved in the collision were a black Hyundai Sonata sedan, semi tractor trailer, and a sliver Toyota Solara.

A Hyundai Sonata and a semi were involved in a collision that left the Hyundai sedan overturned and on its roof, blocking the #2 and #3 lanes.

Feiloaki Helaman James Mateni Jr. was the driver of the Toyota crashed into the overturned Hyundai seconds later.

The impact cause both vehicles to came to a stop in the slow lane. Rescue workers rendered aid to everybody involved. It was reported one person was trapped inside the Hyundai sedan.

Sadly, Mateni Jr. succumbed to his injuries sustained in the collision. Feiloaki Helaman James Mateni Jr. a 17-year-old Rancho Cucamonga resident. He was a member of the Bishop Amat Memorial High School football team, a family member said.

The driver of the Hyundai was taken to a local hospital in an unknown condition.
