The fire was reported about 12:30pm on Saturday August 10, 2024. The so-called Green Fire erupted near the Lytle Creek Shotting Range area about five miles northwest of the town of Lytle Creek, on Lytle Creek Road according to the San Bernardino National Forest.
Help with fixed wing aircraft and ground crews along with firefighter crews worked together for more than two hours to stop the movement of the fire, but not stopping the foward rate of spread. At this time crews are holding the blaze to just about 7 acres in heavy fuel as of 2pm.
Just the shooting range buildings were in danger during the fire fight. No homes are in the area and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters said crews will remain at scene to fully complete containment and tackle any hot spots that may flare up.
The cause of the fire remains unknown at this time.
