The California Highway Partol and fire crews reports were dispatched to a brush fire just before 4pm August 17, on the right shoulder of Highway 138 about two miles away from Interstate 15 on the Hesperia side of Hwy 138.

The good Samaritans managed to slow the flames from getting out of control and stayed at the scene until the fire department arrived.

Fire crews said, “If the flames were blazing, we would have had to shut the highway down and call for more resources to help.

At 4:18pm fire crews were able to stopped forward progress less than a acre burned.

They said it was human-caused fire, and named the fire the “Train Fire.”
