California Highway Patrol reported that a semi tractor-trailer was blocking the #2 lane on southbound Interstate 15 right lane right before the truck escape ramp around 1:57pm December 1, 2024.

A minute or two later a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck pulling a toy hauler trailer rear-ended the disabled semi’s trailer and became stuck under the “Rear Underrun Protection System” aka Mansfield bar.

CHP called for two heavy duty tow trucks, one to free the pickup truck pulling the RV trailer and one for the disabled semi.

CHP said this caused over an 18-mile traffic backup on the freeway from Bear Valley Road around 4pm.

This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Victorville Office.
