Driver Killed in a Car Fire on I-15 in Victorville Sunday Afternoon

VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> – One person is dead in a car fire on southbound Interstate 15 Sunday afternoon.

The car fire occurred 1:10pm on Sunday, February 9, 2025, on the right shoulder of southbound I-15 just before the Stoddard Wells Road offramp California Highway Patrol said.

According to witnesses, good Samaritans tried to extinguish the fire and help the driver inside the mid to late 60’s black Pontiac Firebird. He was attempting to exit the vehicle when the seatbelt became stuck.

Firefighters from Victorville and Apple Valley were quickly on the scene to extinguish the fire but pronounced the driver deceased at the scene. He was the only person in the car, according to authorities.

One of the good Samaritans did suffered burns to his arm.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary incident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This car fire will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Victorville Office.
