Semi get Stuck on Highway 138 In Crestline again

CRESTLINE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A semi tractor trailer becomes stuck on a hairpin turn on Highway 138 Wednesday afternoon.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Traffic Log, the truck is now blocking the entire road near Polit Rock Road. Efforts to clear the road have been going on and off since the incident began at approximately 4:36pm April 23, 2025, but progress has been slow and are currently alternating traffic in both directions.

At 7:19pm a heavy-duty tow truck was on scene.

Authorities with the California Highway Patrol says that there more and more truckers are ignoring signs and following their GPS on Highway 138. This is a mountain road/highway with tight hair-pin turns where a 53-foot semi become into trouble. Drivers used there GPS because of the Cajon Pass had a major traffic jam. GPS indicated there is a faster way down and they take it. The semi drivers didn’t see the signs and make traffic worse by becoming stuck. Since GPS have come into use, there’s been more semis coming across the mountains, and they can’t make it, CHP said.
