Semi Tractor-Trailer Catches on Fire, Blocks Traffic on Northbound I-15 in the Cajon Pass

CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> California Highway Patrol temporarily shut down two northbound lanes on Interstate 15 after a semi tractor-trailer caught fire.

On Monday May 12, 2025, just before 4pm, a semi-truck’s engine caught fire while driving on the interstate just after the Highway 138 exit, according to the CHP traffic log.

The fire was coming from under the cabin and rear tire of the semi-tire, sending a white and black plume of smoke into the air, visible from several miles away.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and the driver was not injured. Two right lanes were closed while firefighters raced to put out the blaze.
