Brush Fire Scorches 36 acres in Apple Valley

APPLE VALLEY, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Multiple agencies responded to a brush fire in the hills of Fizzben Heights area on Saturday afternoon.

The Milpas Fire appeared to span 36 acres starting around Milpas Drive and Valley view Road in Apple Valley.

The Apple Valley Fire Department, San Bernardino County Fire Department, CAL FIRE, Bureau of Land Management, and the City of Victorville Fire Department were called to handle the fire, according to a post on X formerly Twitter.

While water-dropping aircraft worked from above. The flames moved slowly downhill towards the town of Lucerne Valley, where at least three helicopters could be seen dropping loads of water on the largest patches of fire. Also help to contain the fire was two air tankers.

The fire had burned through approximately 36 acres of brush with gusts up to 25 mph.

At 3pm the forward progress of spread has been stopped.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.
