HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A crash involving two vehicles temporarily shut down two northbound lanes on Interstate 15 in Hesperia on Friday evening.
California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino Fire Department received calls of a crash. It was reported on northbound Interstate 15 between Ranchero Road and Highway 395 exit. The crash happened at about 6:46pm Friday on March 19, 2021.
The vehicles involved in the crash were a maroon Toyota Corolla Hatchback and a white Kia Optima. On arrival, firefighters located the Toyota with heavy front-end damage, blocking the #1, and #2 lanes. The Kia also had damage to the front end after hitting the guardrail blocking the #1 lane.
From what the CHP traffic log stated, the Toyota had two black male adults unknown description of clothing, ran from the scene onto the southbound side of I-15 freeway. There was no information immediately available about the two males that fled the scene.
From reports a witness stated the Toyota car caused the crash. He was reported to be speeding and weaving back and fourth between traffic lanes. Seconds later the driver then lost control and slammed into the Kia.
The driver of the Kia did decline medical aid at the scene.
Both vehicles damaged about 60 feet of center divider guardrail.
This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Victorville Office.
CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
