FONTANA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A big rig semi caught fire on southbound Interstate 15 Freeway just before Duncan Canyon Road exit Tuesday afternoon. This created a thick black smoke cloud that you could see for miles away.
California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Fire Department, and US Forest Service firefighters were getting calls of a blue big rig on fire just before 1:56pm, Tuesday afternoon on May 4th, 2021. The big rig stop on the right shoulder of the freeway.
CHP and firefighters had to temporary block the three right lanes while they worked on getting the vehicle fire put out and the removal of the big rig from the freeway. Firefighters laid a hose line around the brush and holding at 1.5 acres as of 2:45pm.
The driver did escape the big rig before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene. The cause of the big rig fire is unknown at this time.
