FONTANA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A box truck rear-ended a semi gas tanker trailer on Tuesday afternoon, northbound Interstate 15 in Fontana authorities said.
The crash was reported about 1:09pm on Tuesday June 15, 2021. Both vehicles were traveling on northbound Interstate 15 just before Sierra Avenue exit. California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the incident both on the right shoulder of the freeway. From what the CHP traffic log stated, the gas tanker blew a rear tire on the trailer and started to slow down. Seconds later a larger box truck struck the back of the trailer. The box truck had major front-end damage and injured the driver. Both drivers were transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.
Diesel was spilled on the shoulder of the freeway and Caltrans was requested to cleanup. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol San Bernardino Inland Office.
