Car Sparks Brush Fire NB 215 In San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A car blew a tire off of northbound Interstate 215 University Parkway offramp. Sparks from the rim hit the adjacent grassy hill on Wednesday morning. The fire blackening about 75 acres before ground and air crews were able to douse the flames.

The fire started as a vehicle fire about 11:25am Wednesday September 22, 2021 and spread to nearby vegetation. With help from California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino Police, San Bernardino County Fire Department, CAL Fire firefighters were on scene quickly.

From reports the vehicle had a flat tire and sparks hit the nearby brush on University Pkwy offramp and quickly spread up Little Mountain. The driver did stayed on scene and was cooperated with authorities. No home or property damage has been reported, but about 100 homes were threatened. The fire is dubbed the University Fire and the cause is under investigation.
