Driver ID’d In Fatal Highway 138 Crash Friday Morning

HESPERIA, CA. (Pain in the Pass) >> The driver in a fatal crash on Highway 138 in Hesperia on Friday morning has been identified.

Authorities have identified the driver of a tan Honda Accord as Ritchie Serrano, a 22-year-old resident of Corona, said San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office.

The crash was reported about 8:43am on Friday January 7, 2022. On Highway 138, near Summit Post Office Road or about a mile away from Summit Valley Rd. (on the Hesperia side of Hwy 138). At this time it’s unknown how or why Ritchie lost control of his Honda Accord and collided in the path of a white Kia Optima sedan.

Despite life-saving rescue measures, firefighters and CHP officials said the driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene. The other driver of the Kia was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

CHP investigators have not yet determined what caused the crash. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office. CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
