COLTON, CA (Pain In The Pass) >> The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting the public that construction contractors will be performing bridge demolition work and lane closures on Interstate 215 at the Washington Street Overcrossing in the City of Colton.

The work is scheduled to take place nightly on Tuesday night, January 18 through Friday night, January 21, from 9pm. to 5am*. Work performed through Friday night will end Saturday morning at 5am. Note: Closures are dependent on weather and contractor receiving proper materials for each job function. They can be changed or canceled at any time.

Bridge replacement work WILL INVOLVE Northbound (NB) AND Southbound (SB) nightly lane closures of I-215 and could result in a FULL FREEWAY closure. This would mean no direct access via I-215 to the I-10 or SR-60.

Additional signage will be put in place on the I-10, SR-60, I-215 and side streets instructing the public to utilize alternate routes to avoid delays.

NOTE: The current posted speed limit on I-215 is 55 mph following Construction Work Zone Speed Limit Reduction provisions.

Active work zone will cause lane reductions and may cause traffic delays. PLAN AHEAD and drive safely being mindful of lane closures and detours.

Semi-trucks and oversized vehicles take precaution. Drive safely being mindful of no truck signage, clearance and low width zones. To avoid traffic delays consider using alternate routes on I-210, I-15 or SR-60 to access surrounding communities.

*Times can subject to change and could go longer. On and off ramps may be subject to closure. Please use caution and remember to reduce your speed when approaching and driving through the construction zones. Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or construction issues.
