VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A truck driver was able to walk away from a serious crash in Victorville, early Wednesday morning.
According to California Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at about 1:52am on Wednesday, April 27, 2022. The big rig was traveling on the southbound side of the Interstate 15. It lost control and crashed through the center divider guardrail and went through onto the northbound lanes right after the Palmdale Road exit. The big rig damaged a passing vehicle.
Based on preliminary reports, the driver of the big rig said he fell asleep. He then drove though the guardrail before he and his tractor trailer came to a stop into a krail on the right shoulder of the northbound side. After he came to a stop, he was able to get out of his big rig and waited for first responders.
The big rig reportedly destroyed several hundred feet of guardrail. Which needed to be replaced with an emergency guardrail repair this morning.
There are no other details released at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Victorville Office. CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
